Assessing Movement: science, pseudo-science & implications for practice 2nd December 2020 7–9.30pm GMT Dr Lee Herrington PhD MCSP Senior Lecturer in Sports Rehabilitation, University of Salford Technical Lead Physiotherapist, English Institute of Sport Most musculoskeletal practitioners will engage in some form of movement assessment as part of their routine assessment procedures, this is often done to aid understanding of factors which could be contributing to the presenting injury and so guide interventions. For this aim to be successful the insights gained from the assessment need to be reliable, accurate and valid. This presentation will look at the available methods to assess movement: their relative strengths and weaknesses; interpreting true meaning from these assessment methods and ways of improving accuracy (reliability and sensitivity) of the assessments.
