Cervical dizziness remains a contentious subject, with little consensus regarding
incidence, aetiology, diagnosis or treatment. This debate might surprise those manual therapy practitioners who regularly see and treat dizziness due to cervical dysfunction.
The dilemma facing therapists, is that it is impossible to diagnose cervical dizziness by looking at the neck! This is due to the condition being more about the multi-sensory processing within the central vestibular system, rather than in a discrete cervical pathology.
This webinar will outline a new and up-to-date model for understanding cervical dizziness, setting cervical dizziness within a multi-sensory experience – finally solving the puzzle!
Specifically we will look at:
- A functional understanding of dizziness and the balance system within a bio-psycho-social context.
- Examples of central sensory processing, how it malfunctions and contributes to dizziness.
- The evidence behind cervical dizziness.
- The assessment of the patient with suspected cervical dizziness.
- Differentiation between dizziness due to cervical dysfunction, vestibular dysfunction, BPPV and vertebral artery dysfunction.
- Treatment of cervical dizziness.
This Webinar is very relevant for all physiotherapists, doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths and manual therapists
