Lumbar Spine Surgery Rehabilitation: What therapists need to know.

Optimum recovery from spinal surgery is reliant on good post-operative rehabilitation. These interactive sessions equip physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals with the clinical knowledge and practical tools to guide patients through recovery with confidence.

In Session 1 (Oct 6th) the three primary spinal surgical approaches (microdiscectomy, decompression and fusion) and their implications for rehabilitation are explored. Then a clear framework for progression following lumbar spine surgery is outlined based on the most up-to-date research. Participants will understand not just what was done surgically, but why it matters for their treatment decisions.

In Session 2 (Oct 13th) we move from theory to practice. Assessment strategies are discussed with special attention on when to refer back for a surgical opinion. Then through two detailed case studies, including a return-to-sport progression, you'll learn to assess readiness, scale exercise appropriately, and troubleshoot if progress plateaus.
